TOUR OF PORTLAND / YO VINTAGE!

Recently Yo Vintage! opened up a new retail space at the popular Black Box building (413 SW 13th Ave), alongside Solestruck and Isaac Hers. Immediately after our Darling Buds of May event closed, Sarah pulled together her new shop in literally just a couple of days, and it looks so great! Some of these photos are from a while back, and others are from their recent party, the space is always evolving and changing in small but cool ways. Their wares are not limited to vintage clothing, either. There are some amazing pre-worn designer finds in the racks as well, plenty of cool pieces from jewelry designers (like local cult favorite Hazel Cox) and awesome collaborations between Yo! and local makers like Seaecho and Houseline. Pay this new space a visit!

ZACH + BETA GOT MARRIED

On August 18th our friends Zach and Beta got married, so awesome! I haven’t been to a wedding in a while, it was very sweet. The wedding was at Overlook House (a “timeless treasure” according to their site), when we walked onto the grounds we saw a cute gray cat and it hung out during the ceremony and dinner, perfect little guest! I took some photos with my new (old) medium format camera, with some expired film that Bria gave me last fall, I’m glad it was still ok. These photos make me extra stoked because I’m about to be attending a few weddings as the official photographer! Carlie and I have our own little wedding photo business, Wild Hearts, and our first wedding is this weekend. So exciting!! Is it acceptable if I require all weddings to have a cat in attendance?

OPAL CREEK

I booked a last-minute lookbook shoot for today, which means I’m spending the two hottest days of the year (so far?) in my studio, and I gotta say I’m jealous of dalas because he’s going back to Opal Creek today and I wish I could go too! I took these photos last time we went, when Maya was visiting from Vancouver. We drew portraits of dalas and I looking chilled out on stones and placed them into a rocky mountain side right near one of the pools, so if I close my eyes I can remember that I’m there anyway, ready to dip into the turquoise clear water. Astral projection is the cure, and also fancy drinks, which I will be treating myself with later this evening post-shoot.

EMILY RYAN

Emily Ryan is my favorite clothing designer in Portland, she has such a creative spirit and I always really appreciate her playful aesthetic and the quality of what she makes. Her clothing ranges from extremely comfortable, stylish basics to pieces that really show her love for over-the-top shapes and unusual silhouettes. This is our second shoot together, and this time we also collaborated with a local jewelry and sculpture artist, BOET, who provided all the jewelry and the woven piece on our wall. And of course you’ll recognize Skye, I could take her photo forever and ever! Emily’s new work is up in her shop, take a look and find a great new piece for your wardrobe! I have a few of Emily’s designs in my closet and I wear them a lot. I feel like I could wear the ballerina cut-out dress
every day this fall.
