Lucky!

November 8th, 2009

I have had a lot of cool thrifting luck lately! I did a lot of shopping for the shop this past week, and there are a lot of great things coming up soon! For now, I can show off the stuff I got for myself- a super comfy linen jacket/cardigan thing, a perfect, soft leather satchel and a pair of Justin boots! Ok, so they aren’t actually Justin brand, but they are exactly the same and I believe the quality is equal to the originals. They are slightly too big for me, so I’m planning to sell them and use the money to buy myself a pair in my size from someone on etsy! Lately I really have been kicking myself for selling this awesome pair a few months back. They fit me perfectly and were such a cool color! Rachel and I mention boots to each other pretty much once per day. I think I have a major thing for black lace up boots in that height. When my ModCloth ones arrive, that will be three pairs?? Oops. Just realizing this now! But they are all a little different…

I love the color of the linen jacket, the big collar is fun to wear and the sleeves are a perfect length, hitting just above the wrists. I wore it out yesterday while we were vintage shopping, it’s so comfortable and reminds me of turmeric, which is a pretty awesome spice. Proud to rep that seasoning! It’s not vintage, but it must be lucky because I had it on when I spotted that leather satchel! I bee-lined to it and was so glad to see that it was only $14! It has little gold initials on the front, reading “NS”. I think that stands for No Shit (This Bag is Amazing). Or, Nice Satchel. Bonus: it doesn’t even smell weird. Old leather bags can be so smelly sometimes, so I am very relieved that this one is free of that undesirable quality.

Best thing about this bunch? I can wear everything as part of one outfit!

Is this post really corny? I am in a funny mood. Had an awesome video chat guitar playing session with my besties up in Victoria, BC tonight. Pretty cool surprise. One last thing, I have to mention that I bought my first Kreepy Doll tonight! My friends Lauren and Jillian have a cool collection since their friend Daniel is the guy making them, and I’m glad I got to see them because they are pretty awesome. They are all different! I bought a cat, and the photo of it is gone right now so I can’t share it until it arrives. In the meantime, here are some of my favorites from the sold doll gallery:

You should spend some time checking out these little friends and maybe choosing one to live with you.

Oh you weren’t kidding about those good finds were you? I don’t know if I’ll ever be too old to adopt soft toys. Poor boyfriend

No it’s not corny! Your sense of humour is similar to mine so I find your jokes funny. Usually I say things like that and crack myself up whilst everybody else just looks on embarrassed. Beautiful jacket! Don’t think I’ll ever be able to get enough of that mustardy shade.

I like the funny mood you’re in so keep it up with posts like these, corny or not!

I absolutely love all your finds. Those Justin-like boots! I’ve been looking for a pair like those but haven’t found ones that fit just yet. And the ones I do favorite on Etsy (in hopes that the money I need to pay for them will magically appear one day) end up getting sold really quickly. It’s such a bummer!

Also, I’m really diggin’ the Kreepy Dolls. They remind me of a much more interesting and cuter Ugly Doll line. My favorite in this set has to be the one in the top right corner; it’s way too adorable.

i had a thing about black boots like those too. i thrifted a pair of mint condition black justins in my exact size for 5 bucks, best find ever in history. i also have a pair of black timberland hiking boots and some 90s ones so i definately understand have 3 pairs of almost the same thing. i think its a good staple, but sometimes i can’t decide which to wear with an outfit because they are similar (ONLY downside).

aw! there is nothing corny about this post! i love that those are the vintage boots that Jeffry Campbell copied TO THE T for a pair of boots he sold last season (and sold the heeled version this season).

You really did have some great finds!

I’d totally get a kreepy doll if Ruby wouldn’t eat it.
