So far I have really, really enjoyed my foray into wedding photography. Carlie and I have a photographic duo called Wild Hearts and we are now booking for 2013, so please get in touch if you’d like to have us document your day! While we normally work together, I shot this sweet, mellow wedding on my own while Carlie was out of town over the holidays. All of the images I’m sharing today were shot on medium format film. I took lots of digital photos that day as well, but these are my favorites! Ariana and Mohsen knew they wanted to get married outdoors, and planned a simple ceremony with a judge at the rose gardens near Forest Park. An outdoor wedding in the heart of Portland’s winter is a bold move, not to mention getting married on the so-called apocalypse (haha), but the couple’s courage was rewarded with clear skies and even a bit of sun! Our winters are very green and lush and the gardens made the perfect backdrop for Ariana’s adorable ginger curls! Also, how amazing is her dress? It was originally worn by Ariana’s mother on her wedding day, total 60′s perfection. I also loved Mohsen’s bright red watch peeking out from his suit jacket, a flash of color amidst his classic look! We finished our photo time right as the rain started to fall, and the newlyweds (the best semi-corny wedding term? yesss!) set out to continue their day with fancy lunch at Little Bird, followed by a getaway to California. Pretty awesome way to get married, if you ask me!

So sweet! I love the wintry bouquet.

Loving the POPS of colour. Perfect winter wedding styles! The dress is amazing. If I put on my mom’s dress it would probably shred open ha ha.

Yes, it’s vintage. The bride’s mother wore it at her own wedding! I included that info in the post.
