This Ukrainian film seems to meet most of my weird old movie requirements, at least visually. Too bad I will probably never see it! Made by Yuri Ilyenko in 1983, it popped up in the livejournal film stills community that I will follow forever, apparently called Mavka or A Story of the Forest. Searching for it online leads to a lot of dead ends, or just more screenshots from the livejournal post that have been shared on tumblr or other sites. Definitely fulfills my forest/naked girl/weird ritualistic costume needs, ha ha. I went into the woods today to go mushroom hunting but it was too early, the ground wasn’t dry enough yet. Found a few soggy lobster mushrooms that were too gross to take, and one really great looking yellow capped dude that would probably trypppp you out, or maybe just kill you. I’ll be back for the edible ones again later, hopefully!

hairy pits!

What up. So – I saw this in Columbus in 2001 under the title Lesnaya Pesnya. Did some searching about the intertubes and now have a copy! Have not yet found subtitles but they don’t matter as much for this as your state of mind does…
let me know if you’d like a copy!

After a quick look on IMDB I found the full title of the film: Lesnaya pesnya. Mavka.
I found the full film on YouTube (definitely not HD and no subtitles though).
Enjoy!

Cool, thanks! My friend’s boyfriend also managed to find a copy for me, but still no subtitles… oh well, at least visually it’s awesome enough!
