Rhinestone Cutie
June 11th, 2009

I hadn’t heard of Sarah Sophie Flicker until I read this interview with her on Refinery29, and wow, what a cutie! Her wardrobe sounds pretty amazing, and I honestly let out a little OMG when I realized that she is wearing that rhinestone star hairpiece that I posted about a while back. How cool is that? Well, not as cool as this (from the article):
What was your latest, greatest vintage find?
“Karen Elson and I found an eBay auction where a woman was selling a lot of her performance-wear. We’ve all worn a lot of the pieces in our shows. The costumes are all really, really heavy with tons of sequins and rhinestones. I love the way old sequins and rhinestones look, sort of dusty and worn. It’s one of my favorite things in the world!”
Oh, you know, NBD or anything, just hangin’ with Karen Elson and looking at ebay auctions together. Man, I wish I could have seen those auctions when they were up! If that rhinestone outfit was any indication, there would have been some amazing pieces. All of her interview answers are pretty cute, and it was extra cute reading about her daughter. I honestly think I would have traded my entire life in as a kid for a dress-up box as incredible sounding as her daughter’s, filled with old ballet and tap costumes. I was in dance when I was a kid so prancing around in ballet outfits was sort of my favorite thing to do. Embarrassing, but whatever. Anyway, Sarah Sophie Flicker = my new fave celeb style person?

Whoa. She is a beauty. The “Annakim Violette” she references is Tom Petty’s daughter (sorry, is that a faux pas? But it explains a lot, I think). The Moldy Doily features pictures of all these guys just hanging out and being amazing in LA. So jeals.

Wow, I love that that rhinestone costume ended up going to Sarah Sophie Flicker and Karen Elson! Sarah makes me want to have long hair again . . .
Have you seen this video?

It has both those ladies and your favorite, Zooey D. (!) and they wear the prettiest clothes and look like little silent film stars.

Yes I read this earlier too, I’d never heard of her before but she is AMAZING. I think I may have to attempt a D.I.Y on that rhinestone head piece because I can’t get it out of my head!

Ooh! Thank you so much for posting this! I am feeling more inspired about fashion and dressing than I have in a long time.
I love her soft yet eccentric style. And her really long hair! Like Rhiannon, now I’m dying to let my hair grow long and wild again.
*sigh*

Funny ! I am more into MOONS, really.
And I finally managed to find the perfect brooch : vitoriann, white rhinestones & sterling silver … Swoon-Moon !
But I love these head-pieces, too !

Aaaah I totally got to meet her for a few minutes a couple weeks ago at a BUST photo shoot! She is the tallest, prettiest, lythe-est person I have ever met in real life! She was also incredibly nice to me even though I was really sweaty and out of breath and probably staring, haaa.
