Fancy Rhinestones

Wow. Is this rhinestone outfit amazing or what?? Definitely one of the best things I have ever seen… can you imagine finding something like this? I wonder if the three stars were a hair piece, or maybe a necklace of some kind? Was it a burlesque outfit, or for a tap dancer? I can totally imagine the most adorable, sassy flapper girl wearing this. I’ve seen some really incredible costumes in old photos, but it’s rare to see a real one like this! I bet not many of these little costumes survived the years, it’s hard enough to find old 20′s silk dresses that aren’t falling apart. And the color!! It’s perfect. Reminds me a bit of this editorial from the latest Lula, too, because of the 20′s silky pink colors. I’m still wishing for a pair of perfect, pale pink tap pants with a little scalloped edge… there’s this pair, but they’re not quite what I am looking for.
Here are a couple of great 20′s girls that could pull off a starry rhinestone bikini anytime:

Thanks for this amazing discovery! This is just perfect. It almost makes me want to try too sew something like this, even though I wouldn’t be able to wear it anywhere. Sigh…

This is FANTASTIC! If I owned it I think I would prance around in it a lot (well… maybe not in public). I hope the 3 stars are for wearing on your head!

I’ve been obsessed with Carnivale lately and can completely see Libby drooling over this little number for one of her dances.

Having lately worked with someone who used to sew costumes for the Moulin rouge, I now know that the costumes there were actually well-made and thoroughly resistant… some of them from the same period and older might actually still be in their files, so I’m not so surprised the pieces still hold together! I’d really like these stars to be a headpiece, don’t know why…
I bought a sixties lingerie pattern on Etsy a few months ago, and the panties seemed to be quite similar to those, so if you have sewing skills (having discovered your lovely blog today, I’m not sure you do), adding trims to a basic pattern should’nt be too hard…
Apologies for any insult to the English grammar!

Too amazing. Looks exactly like something 50 chorus girls in a Busy Berkley flick would have worn. Wow.

As I get older, I am becoming less and less shy about my love for burlesque/1920′s flappers. These pieces are SO COOL, and I wish things like this were still considered to be ‘in fashion.’
