St. Charles, Patron Saint of Getting Us Around

June 6th, 2010

It might seem a little funny to dedicate a whole post to a street car, but we rode the St. Charles streetcar (aka the Charlie) so much in New Orleans that it totally deserves it! Our apartment was a few blocks away from the tracks, so it was a really easy way for us to get around town. The street cars are old and quaint with awesome wood seats, it’s quite old and you can read about the history here. Rachel sent me a link to pictures from the new Real World (in NO) and they have a Charlie car right in their house, haha. I loved the street car, even if it tried to kill me the first night. Also, if you’re interested in being my dress twin and having that pink floral dress, there’s one for sale on etsy for a great price right here!

you are such a talented photographer. i love these photos as i just adore vintage steamtrains, streetcars, and such. you might have already been, but i think you would enjoy the wine-tasting train in napa, california. it goes through the wine country and stops at a vineyard or 2. the gourmet meal is also quite delicious. both of your dresses are just so lovely. and i feel like i’ve seen that second dress before. those red lips are perfection.

Streetcars are fabulous! We have old restored trams running around Christchurch and of course there’s the cable car in Wellington as well.

As a follow up to talking about interesting places the other day – I’ve done a brief post on a few here in NZ as I thought it might be of interest to a few people.

It’s on my Rainbow Notebook blog if you fancy a look :)

That looks like a great way to travel around! There is an old steam train service near me and i never tire of the old fashioned wooden seats and old fashioned decor.
