Style Files

I present to you the newest installment of the Clever Nettle Style Files! Featuring lovely ladies wearing frocks & things from my shop. First up, Erin of Calivintage wearing a striped blouse from my shop, paired with a really great polka dot dress. This girl is the queen of layering dresses & blouses, for real. Next, Jessica of The Cat’s Pajamas! This dress was something I hung onto for ages but never seemed to wear, but it’s so perfect on Jessica. She even wore it to Renegade!

I’m so glad that Jen of The Fabled Needle posted about this 1920′s dress that she bought from me, because I thought I might never see it again! Such a special dress, one of the most flattering and unique 20′s dresses I have ever come across. The little antique stars are a super cute addition too! Victoria of Justice Pirate is wearing a super soft, silky 1940′s skirt from the shop, pretty darn cute paired with those sandals & lunchbox purse!

Finally, Jenna wearing my favorite antique expo dress find (I think she said it was her birthday dress, so cool!), and Liz from England wearing my favorite Design House smock, something that I actually wore for my birthday back in… 2007? Psychedelic veggies!

If you have any photos of yourself wearing an item from my shop, please send it over and you’ll be featured in a future Style Files post.

Clever Nettle Style Files

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

I’ve been meaning to work on this post for ages- the second installment of the Clever Nettle style files! The first post can be seen here. These posts are a way for me to show off YOUR style, featuring items from my shop! I love seeing how people style the items that they receive from me, I am always so impressed and thrilled to see these items out in the world on such awesome ladies. Above, there’s Celeste (left) wearing a 50′s hat from my shop, and miss Silvia from Italy (right) with the fox hunt themed shirt.

Super cute Victoria in a starry print dress (left), and one of my oldest customers ever (she’s been my Singapore buddy ever since my ebay days!), Melly, with a big satchel bag from the shop.

Next up is Liz from London, wearing two jackets from the shop. This one is sort of a double whammy, cause she’s also wearing a pom pom necklace from the vamoose. My pom pom necklace is a similar color, and it’s totally one of those compliment pieces that everyone seems to love.

Here are two examples of dresses that look a million times better on these ladies than they ever could have on me- Amanda (left), in a neat patterned 60′s dress (looks so good with the red tights!) and Catherine in a sheer 50′s dress, photographed in Taipei. That’s another thing that I love about these photos- the dresses are literally all over the world!

The awesome Muija (left) wearing a skirt that I had a hard time parting with, but it’s so perfect for her that I’m glad I did! While I wish I could claim the dress came from me, it’s the belt on Cristin that came from the shop. She also has an etsy shop, and it’s really good, so you should check it out.

Next up, Jessica (left) in a yellow button-down skirt from the shop (I always think of Jessica when I have a good button skirt!), and another photo from Amanda, looking amazing in that apple-print dress! It looks like it was made for her, when on me it looked totally goofy!

Last, but certainly not least, the ever-inspiring Mademoiselle Robot in a skirt and leaf print blouse (I remember buying this, it was a really fun thrift shopping trip when Maya was in town!). The skirt photo is proof of how long I’ve been slacking on posting these images, at least since Christmas!

If you have photos of yourself wearing items from my shop, send ‘em over so that I can hoard them for another style files post in the future!

Clever Nettle Style Files!

Friday, November 13th, 2009

Here is the first official edition of the Clever Nettle STYLE FILES (corny? yes, but the pictures make up for it!), posts starring ladies wearing items from my shop. I received an email this morning from Stella letting me know that she had posted some photos of herself in a dress from my shop! This dress is extra special, not only because of the amazing rhinestone bow and stripey fabric, but because I spent hours mending it, sewing up rips and fixing little things so that it could be worn again, because a dress that awesome deserves a long life! What a great party dress, and Stella looks SO FANTASTIC in it!! She said that it reminded her of a vintage Playboy Bunny Girl, cause of the bow-tie! She made little lace ears to go with it, totally the perfect touch. Here’s Stella’s original post, in French! Right, I forgot to mention that she lives in Paris!

Next, one of my favorite new blogger friends, Erin, aka calivintage! She took home a really cute 60′s Jonathan Logan dress from my shop, I think there must be a rule that all Jonathan Logan dresses are awesome. Don’t you agree? Erin styled her dress in a totally genius way, with the most perfect scallop trim jacket I have ever seen. I am a huge fan of scallop edges, and I would be pretty stoked to find a blazer like that. She made the dress look really modern and cool, the perfect blend of sweetness and overall rad-ness. Here’s her original post!

I’ll have to see if I can dig up any more photos like these, and if you have some, please send them over or point me in the direction of your blog/flickr!

This concludes the first installment of STYLE FIIIIIIILEZ.
